The golden sands of Blyth Beach will once again become a hub of creativity and community spirit as the Blyth Sandcastle Competition returns on Saturday 12 July from 11am to 3pm. With free family-friendly activities, exciting prizes, and even professional sand art, it promises to be a highlight of the summer calendar.

Set in front of the Dave Stephens Centre, the event invites families, individuals, and teams to take part in building their most imaginative sand creations. Judging will take place at 2pm, with fantastic prizes provided by Saltrock for the top entries:

  • £100 for First Place

  • £75 for Second Place

  • £50 for Third Place

But it’s not just about competition—there’s plenty of fun for everyone. Children can enjoy free face painting, take a ride in the Shuggie boats, and make use of the Borrow Bucket, a community-driven supply of buckets and spades. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own beach tools, borrow what they need, or even donate items to keep the Borrow Bucket going throughout the summer.

Presented by Blyth Town Council and in partnership with Blyth Celebrates we are welcoming special sand artists Soul2Sand to our beaches!

Beginning at 9:30am, Soul2Sand will be crafting a large-scale sand artwork inspired by Blyth. Then from 1:30pm to 3:30pm, members of the public will be invited to contribute their own sand designs around the theme “What Blyth means to me”, helping to create a community sand masterpiece that showcases the heart of the town.

Organisers hope the event will not only spark creativity but also celebrate the people and pride that make Blyth such a special place.

So pack your sunscreen, bring your imagination, and head to Blyth Beach for a day full of fun, laughter, and local pride. We can’t wait to see you there!
