Blyth Town Council Commits to Supporting Youth Provision

Council News

Blyth Town Council has unanimously agreed to make working with and supporting youth provision a strategic priority. The decision reflects the Council's commitment to working with local youth services to understand and look to overcome the challenges that are being faced while also fostering positive youth development.

The Council acknowledge the importance of supporting our existing youth services and clubs, particularly considering funding reductions in recent years. The Council recognised that providing young people with resources, support, and opportunities is essential for encouraging civic engagement and tackling challenges.

Councillor Aileen Barrass, Mayor, commented "Blyth has a great resource in its existing youth clubs and providers, and the Town Council has a strong history of supporting them through community grants and other initiatives. We will be working closely with local youth providers and partners like Blyth Valley CVA, to understand the challenges and barriers that are faced, and to look at new opportunities for collaborative working to support the young people in Blyth.”

A meeting with the local youth providers is being arranged for 10 April and all youth providers across Blyth are being asked to complete the following questionnaire before 31 March 2025.
