State-of-the-Art Isabella Skatepark Nears Completion

Blyth Town Council is thrilled to announce that the construction of the highly anticipated Isabella Skatepark is entering its final stages. This state-of-the-art facility is set to become a cornerstone for the local community, offering a modern and dynamic space for skateboarding enthusiasts of all ages and abilities.
Wheelscape Skateparks have been making excellent progress, with major milestones recently achieved. On the evening of Thursday 16 January, the final concrete pour was completed on a large remaining area of the skatepark, concluding just before 11pm under permitted extended working hours. The council thanks the surrounding residents for their patience and cooperation throughout the construction process.
Last week, Wheelscape were installing a resin area and block seating, and they now move on to other finishing touches relating to the groundworks around the concrete ramps prior to the necessary safety checks being carried out.
Works are also underway to install fencing around the site to ensure safety and enhance the facility’s appearance, and as part of the agreed landscaping design, 22 trees will be planted.
The Isabella Community Centre car park has been extended to include a dedicated fenced parking area for visitors to the skatepark. In addition, the lighting system and CCTV is now fully operational, ensuring a space that can be safely used during the evening hours and to deter anti-social behaviour.
The Isabella Skatepark has been funded by Blyth Town Council with contributions from Northumberland County Council’s Housing Developer Fund, County Councillor Anna Watson (Isabella Ward) and County Councillor Jeff Reid (Plessey Ward).
The excitement is building and Blyth Town Council is getting closer to announcing the official opening date, with preparations already underway to celebrate the launch of this fantastic new facility.
We are also working closely with Silx detached youthwork team who will have a regular presence at this new facility to engage with the young people.
The Isabella Skatepark represents a significant investment in the local area, providing a vibrant and inclusive space for outdoor recreation. This project is set to inspire the next generation of skaters while fostering a sense of community pride and engagement.
Stay tuned for further updates as we prepare to open this remarkable addition to Blyth’s community amenities. The countdown is on, and we can’t wait to welcome you to the Isabella Skatepark!
