Blyth Town Council Takes Responsibility for Broadway Pavilion Defibrillator
Agreed at a meeting of the Environment Committee on 19 September, Blyth Town Council has officially assumed responsibility for the defibrillator located at Broadway Pavilion. This move underscores our dedication to the health and safety of both residents and visitors. Originally donated by a local resident in partnership with the Northeast Ambulance Service and Northumberland County Council, this defibrillator will now be managed by the Town Council as a vital community resource.
Access to defibrillators can make a critical difference during emergencies, providing immediate assistance until professional medical help arrives. Blyth Town Council has equipped several locations with community-access defibrillators, strategically positioned to ensure quick response in emergencies. Across Blyth, six Council-maintained defibrillators are currently available in these key locations:
- Marketplace - South wall of the toilet block facing Waterloo Road
- Blyth Beach - Dave Stephens’ Centre
- Ridley Park - New toilet block
- Police Station - Arms Evertyne House, Quay Road
- Delaval Street, Newsham - Near the fruit shop
- Broadway Playing Field - South-west side of the Pavilion.
These installations are supplemented by additional defibrillators provided by local community groups, expanding rapid-access options throughout Blyth.
Residents and visitors can locate the nearest defibrillator by visiting Defib Finder online and entering their postcode, which will provide a map of the 10 closest devices as shown on the attached image.
Blyth Town Council extends its appreciation to the individuals and organisations that have contributed to these life-saving resources, as well as to residents who continue to support public safety initiatives for the wellbeing of the entire community.
