Blyth Town Council Approves Repairs to Bolam Allotment Lanes

Blyth Town Council is pleased to announce that it has accepted a quotation for essential repair works at the Bolam Allotments site. The repairs will involve filling potholes along all lanes within the allotment site, ensuring smoother and safer access for allotment holders.
The decision was made at the Environment Committee meeting held on Thursday, 19 September 2024, and follows the successful completion of a new water system at the site. The works will commence towards the end of November. The lanes will still be accessible on foot during the works.
Allotments benefit both the environment and the community by promoting local biodiversity and sustainable food growing. They provide a space for people to connect, share gardening knowledge, and enjoy outdoor activity, supporting mental and physical wellbeing.
Allotment holders can expect further updates as the project progresses. Please note that the Bolam Allotment site is managed by Blyth Smallholdings and Allotment Association.
Since 2017, Blyth Town Council has carried out repairs to the lanes at the following allotment sites:
- Beatrice,
- Wensleydale,
- Tenth Avenue, and
- Newsham Side Club.
