Blyth Town Council Thanks Community and Responders

Council News Blyth Town News Public Noticeboard

In light of the recent heavy rainfall and its impact on the Blyth area, we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has stepped forward to support the community. 57mm of rain fell in a 24-hour period which is the equivalent of one months’ worth of rain for Blyth.

Northumberland County Council teams, and Northumberland Fire & Rescue have been working tirelessly on the clean-up effort, filling and distributing sandbags to protect properties. Additionally, grass-cutting, and other operatives funded by Blyth Town Council have contributed by clearing leaves and weeds from drainage channels to help alleviate flooding.

Blyth Town Council will be engaging with Northumberland County Council to review the situation and discuss preventative measures to minimise the risk of future incidents.
