Events News Public Noticeboard

We are proud to announce that Frisk Radio, a thriving commercial radio station based in Blyth, will once again be the media partner for this year’s Blyth Live Festival.

Scheduled for June 15th at Blyth beach, this year’s festival boasts an impressive line-up headlined by The Lindisfarne Story Band. Supporting acts include The Peter Donegan Band, Martin Stephenson and the Daintees, along with a variety of other talented performers.

The Lindisfarne Story Band, featuring original Lindisfarne drummer Ray Laidlaw and vocalist/guitarist Billy Mitchell, is renowned for its soulful performances and timeless hits. Lindisfarne, originally formed in 1968, has become a North East legend with their album “Fog on the Tyne,” the UK’s best-selling album of 1972, and their iconic Christmas concerts at Newcastle City Hall. The Lindisfarne Story Band promises to deliver these unforgettable musical experiences at the heart of Blyth. With Billy Mitchell at the helm, attendees can expect to be transported back to an era defined by hits like “Run for Home,” “Lady Eleanor,” “Meet Me on the Corner,” and the classic “Fog on the Tyne.”

As media partners, Frisk Radio will play an essential role in promoting the festival, ensuring their dedicated listeners and the wider community are informed and excited about the event. Frisk Radio is committed to supporting and celebrating local events that enrich Blyth’s vibrant culture. Through this partnership with the Blyth Live Festival, Frisk Radio continues its mission to provide exceptional entertainment experiences.

“We are thrilled that Frisk Radio has been chosen as the media partner for the Blyth Live Festival. It’s fantastic that the Town Council has decided to collaborate with a local broadcaster, capable of reaching listeners across the North East,” said Stuart Landreth of Frisk Radio. “We’re also excited that Kenny Dick will once again host the event.”

Mayor of Blyth Town Council, Councillor Aileen Barrass, added: “This is one of the region’s best free festivals, and we aim to provide a wonderful day of entertainment for everyone. We are delighted to partner with Frisk Radio, as we believe in supporting local businesses and organisations. The stage will open at 11 am with some fantastic community groups, and the bands will start performing at 12 pm until close at 9pm.”
