We have officially entered the competition to become the UK Town of Culture 2028!

In celebration of our town’s culture and heritage, we have submitted a digital postcard to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport which will join other entrants from across the country on the official UK Town of Culture Digital Map

About our postcard

Our postcard features Coal Dust to Clean Pixels, an energetic and striking image by local artist Dex Hannon Artist which uses the Northumberland County flag and shapes inspired by Blyth Battery to tell the story of Blyth’s evolving identity and strong spirit.

We drew on words from The High Tide by local poet John Challis, whose work can be seen embedded in the paving outside Blyth Library, to speak to our optimism, growth and future.

We warmly invite the country to meet us here in Blyth, and we wish all the entrants the very best of luck in the competition.
