New Mayor and Deputy Mayor 2026

At the Annual Meeting of Blyth Town Council held on Thursday 14 May as the first item of business Councillor Mark Peart was elected as Mayor and Chairman for the forthcoming year.
Speaking on the appointment, The Mayor said: "I am deeply honoured to have been appointed Mayor and grateful for the trust and confidence placed in me by fellow councillors.
I undertake this role with a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to serving all members of our community to the very best of my ability.
During my term of office, I look forward to supporting local organisations, charities, volunteers, and residents whose dedication and contribution help strengthen our town and civic life.
I would also like to place on record my sincere thanks to the outgoing Mayor for their service, dedication, and commitment during their year in office.
As Mayor, I will seek to uphold the traditions and values of this office with integrity, impartiality, and respect, while promoting civic pride and community spirit throughout Blyth.
I very much look forward to meeting residents and representing the council at events and engagements over the coming year".
The Mayor will be supported by Councillor Denise Nicholson who was elected Deputy Mayor and Vice Chairman.
