UK Town of Culture 2028 - It's submitted!

Developed by Blyth Town Council with the support of a wide range of cultural groups, it highlights the incredible cultural offer Blyth already has, as well as its huge potential for so much more.
A huge thank you to everyone who has helped shape the story of our town so far, including the support of Northumberland County Council. From our proud heritage to our exciting future, this reflects the ambition, creativity and community spirit that make Blyth so special

The first stage is shortlisting, expected to be announced this spring, with shortlisted towns receiving funding to further develop their bids before a final decision is made later in the year. You can find more information about the process, including shortlisting and announcement timelines, on our website.
Whatever happens next, this is already something to be proud of. But the most important thing now is that we keep the momentum going — by continuing to celebrate, support and champion all that is great about Blyth
Please keep sharing your amazing work, events and achievements, and help us showcase everything that makes our town strong. We also encourage everyone to share the campaign branding, posters and graphics on your social media channels to show the UK that we are serious contenders.
Let’s keep talking positively about our town, backing local events, supporting local organisations, and showing why Blyth’s future is full of opportunity.
This bid is about more than a title — it’s about confidence, pride and belief in where we are heading together.
