Blyth Town Council Searching for Mayoral Cadet

Council News Blyth Town News

Blyth Town Council is inviting nominations for the role of Mayoral Cadet. The role offers a unique opportunity for a young person to support the Mayor of Blyth in civic duties while gaining valuable experience in leadership and community engagement.

The Mayoral Cadet plays an important role throughout the civic year and will accompanying the Mayor at a range of official engagements, including key community events, commemorations, and civic ceremonies. The successful candidate will represent young people across the town while contributing to local civic life.

Open to young people aged 15 to 18 from youth uniformed organisations such as the Army, Air and Sea Cadets, Fire Cadets, Scouts and Guides, the role recognises individuals who demonstrate strong communication skills, commitment, and a positive attitude.

The initiative reflects Blyth Town Council’s ongoing commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant, highlighting the vital role that cadet organisations play in developing young people and strengthening connections between the armed forces community and wider society.

The appointed Mayoral Cadet will serve for a full civic year, beginning with an official appointment at a Special Meeting of the Town Council in April. During their term, they will gain first-hand experience of civic leadership, build confidence, and act as an ambassador for their organisation and their peers.

Uniformed organisations across Blyth are invited to nominate one young person for consideration. Nominations should outline the individual’s achievements, commitment, and suitability for this high-profile role.

The deadline for nominations is Friday 3rd April.
